Richard Stiles
I am a BACP accredited counsellor working with individuals and couples. My belief is that every human being is unique and views the world in an individual way. Therapy with me offers an exploration of what makes you who you are. This can involve looking at your childhood, your values and relationship patterns, in a supportive and non-judgemental way. I believe in gently encouraging you to reach your full potential. You may come to therapy because of a particular crisis or difficulty in your live. Simply telling your story can be enormously beneficial. However, you don't need to be in crisis to benefit from therapy. You might simply want a space to explore your life in a more philosophical way. Therapy offers a safe place for that exploration. Mindfulness and present moment awareness are at the heart of how I work as a therapist. In becoming more comfortable with the uncomfortable we can find peace and acceptance of wherever we find ourselves. Then we can begin to move on.

My aim is to empower you to get to where you want to be. To help you discover your potential; to overcome your personal obstacles and issues; to improve your relationships. I have been a therapist for 27yrs and qualified up to masters level. I've worked in various settings including the NHS (hospital and doctors surgeries) and large national charities. This has given me a breath of experience in for example addictions, depression and anxiety disorders, relationship and family issues; self-harm and suicidal behaviour; trauma and bereavement. Humanistic Person Centred approach has guided my training towards Integrative Psychotherapy. The philosophy that we are all unique fits this model; it recognises the value of you as a unique person and combines elements of other approaches to help you grow and flourish. The years have taught me that I don't have all the answers although I do have the skills to help you discover yours. I also know that I can sit with you and be with you in your felt sense of anxiety, fear, depression, anger, chaos or loneliness. I strongly believe that you can be empowered to find your own answers. My passion is in the evolving research of neuro-psychotherapy or brain based therapy. This approach is based in cutting edge brain science - how the brain works, the connection with mind and body, our social interactions and our environment and how we experience all of this - emotionally and behaviourally. Maybe that sounds a lot but basically it just means that it helps me to see the whole of you rather than just one part of you. Together you and I can work towards discovering ways that help you to arrive at where you want to be. As we adjust to the presence of COVID19, online and telephone sessions offer unique opportunities for you and I to explore and experience how we work together. Contact me by telephone, text or email to learn more about me and or to explore what you feel you need. Together we will work on strategies that help you to address the root causes of your issues and build your resilience.

Emma Jenkinson (she/her)
Hello. As a counsellor/psychotherapist, I am committed to choosing a therapeutic approach that works best for you, and view the relationship between us both to be crucial in facilitating whatever changes you want to make. I know that shopping around and finding the right fit is important before investing money, time and emotional energy - and so I'm always happy to have a brief informal chat before you commit to any sessions. I work with a variety of presenting issues, and am happy to work with you for short-term or long-term therapy. I am LGBTQIA+/GSRD (Gender, Sexuality and Relationship Diversity) allied, sex positive and body positive. I also have lived experience of Autism and ADHD and keep up to date with research and services around neurodivergence. I have previously counselled children from age 5 upwards in school settings, and with parents in a post-natal depression charity. Prior to my counselling career, I worked in the arts and education sectors, supporting people of different ages and abilities to explore and express themselves - which it seems is something of a passion of mine. My arts training and background mean that I'm not averse to bringing creativity into the therapeutic relationship if appropriate. ** Note: Please message to check availability before purchasing a session. Thank you **

I am a qualified psychodynamic psychotherapist (BACP registered) offering individual on line and telephone counselling to adults, the work can be short term or on-going. My way of working involves thinking about the link between past and present experiences, such as your relationships or how you respond to situations in your life. There could be patterns of behaviour that you have become stuck in and unaware of. There may be something specific that you are struggling with or a general feeling of unhappiness where feelings and thoughts are troubling you and have become overwhelming. I offer a non-judgemental space where we can explore whatever you bring together, at your own pace and in a way which feels safe. Having this space to recognise and make sense of your experiences can lead to positive change, more freedom and self awareness.

Emma West
Hi my name is Emma. I have a non medicalised approach to counselling which means I see mental wellbeing - how we think, feel and behave - as being the result of people's life experiences [What's happened to you?] rather than as a medical diagnosis [What's wrong with you?]. My background of working at the BBC and being a writer means I have a lot of experience of putting people at ease and developing a good rapport. I aim to offer a warm, friendly approach to counselling, which most importantly includes listening without judging. So whatever you are struggling with - stress, low mood, anxiety, relationship issues, problems at work, loss, low self esteem, anger, trauma - I will support you in exploring what is going on, help you work out what you would like to change, and work with you to find ways to make those changes. Because I believe information and understanding can go a long way to resolving problems I often use psycho-education in sessions this starts with understanding the natural ['Monkey brain'] reactions we have when life has been, or is, difficult. To this end I've developed a series of mind maps to help explain common issues eg anxiety, depression, low self esteem, sleep problems, and which also identifies potentially useful solutions for you to try out. Potentially useful solutions include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy [which is about recognising and challenging unhelpful thinking], [long out breathe] breathing techniques, mindfulness [which is about being in the here and now / accepting thoughts], and various written exercises - these are just some examples - really it's just a question of finding what works for you. Whilst I can't give you medical advice I can help you source information and support you if you are thinking about taking prescribed psychiatric drugs, are already taking psychiatric drugs but want to consider your options, have decided you want to stop taking them, and/or you are in the process of tapering already. I also have specialist experience and knowledge of disability, discrimination, health, carer, student, LGBTQIA2S+, and gender dysphoria issues, and lived experience of carer issues and rare disability. If you have a hearing impairment we can use captions on Zoom. Please just get in touch if you have any other access requirements. Finally, I'm experienced in doing long and short term work - even one off sessions - having worked in a variety of different settings including in the NHS taking referrals from the local Depression and Anxiety service, for an NHS Specialist Gender Identity Clinic [for individuals thinking about, or in the process of, transitioning], and at the University of Exeter, as well as counselling GPs and trainee doctors [via Employee Assistance Programmes], and private individuals. NB Please message me if you'd like a session on a day/time that doesn't look available on my calendar because I could have availability and/or I can create a session slot for you.

I have been practicing as a therapist for 20 years; working initially with substance misuse within a community addictions programme. I then spent three extremely challenging but rewarding years working in a residential drug and alcohol rehab. I have also worked for Cruse Bereavement Care, in a GP surgery and for two years taught on an undergraduate counselling course at the American University in Richmond, Surrey. For the past twelve years I have worked part-time in a psychiatric hospital, providing both individual psychotherapy and running therapy groups on both the addictions programme and the general psychiatric programme. Alongside this I have developed and maintained my own private practice. In my spare time I enjoy reading, music, cinema, running, travel and cooking.

Our online therapy philosophy

The goal of E-Therapy is to provide the best private online therapy in the UK, delivering emotional, psychological and behavioural therapies to improve the quality of life for those across the country and worldwide.

The problems we set out to solve

Owing to the complexity and difficulties of our everyday lives, there is a rising demand for these therapeutic services in order to help with our emotional, psychological and physical difficulties.

Sadly, stress, depression and anxiety are now common symptoms of our fast-paced modern times.

We also know that not everybody has the time or resources to find a suitable therapist, and attend face-to-face sessions. Additionally, the stigma of experiencing and dealing with emotional and other difficulties may also prevent those who would benefit from therapy or counselling from using the traditional approach.

We firmly believe that having access to therapy from the comfort of your own home, office, or wherever you choose can help with the problems outlined.

How we strive to help you

We are passionate about helping people live peaceful, joyful and harmonious lives. We also understand that this progress is constantly hindered by the complexities of daily living.

For therapists and counsellors, E-Therapy is a secure, confidential and effective platform through which they can deliver psychological and behavioural therapies. And because it is an online medium, our experienced therapists can reach out to a wider audience.

We strongly believe that with the appropriate guidance, a significant proportion of the population in the UK and across the world can be in a better position to deal with life’s complexities and not feel exhausted or overwhelmed in the process. We strive to improve the quality of life of our clients and assist them in achieving happiness, prosperity and fulfilment through the best online mental health services possible.

Our mission statement

Assisting mankind in the alleviation of psychological and emotional conflict, thereby enabling humanity to progress a step further in its quest for fulfilment, purpose and happiness, in essence creating a more sustainable and harmonious world.
