Biography

I am a Certified Counsellor and Psychotherapist and member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy, and the National Counselling Society (NCS) of the United Kingdom.

I studied at the Department of Psychology at the European University of Cyprus and graduated with a degree in Psychology. I continued my postgraduate studies and trained in Counselling and Psychotherapy at the University of Nottingham in the United Kingdom where I obtained my master’s degree (MA) in Person-Centred/Humanistic Counselling and Psychotherapy.

I have gained significant experience in various positions as a Counsellor and Psychotherapist in Health Care Organizations such as Hospices for people with terminal illnesses and end of life (Blythe House, Ashgate Hospicecare, and East Cheshire Hospice), as a Counsellor and Psychotherapist in a Counselling Organization combating domestic violence and sexual abuse (The Elm Foundation), in a Counselling Organization with people with substance abuse and gambling difficulties, with couples, and other individuals who were facing other various psychological difficulties (Krysallis Counselling Services, Families and Couples) and as a Counsellor and Psychotherapist in an employee benefit program (Employee Assistance Program EAP, ComPsych), with employees who were experiencing work-related stress, depression, and other mental health issues.

I am currently practicing in the private sector as Counsellor and Psychotherapist (Cheshire Counselling and Psychotherapy Practice), where I have worked with individuals with various difficulties such as depression, anxiety disorders, panic attacks, guilt, domestic violence, sexual abuse, significant life transitional periods, grief and mourning, existential issues, anger management, motherhood, communication problems, relationship problems and difficulties choosing a partner, adolescent counselling, psychosomatic disorders, eating disorders, addictions, obsessive-compulsive thoughts and behaviors.

My education and experience help me use various processes and collaborate with individuals or couples to create their own unique treatment plan with the aim to cover, as much as possible, their own unique needs. Through these processes (e.g. through Socratic dialogue/questioning, Empathic responses, and other Systemic and Cognitive-Behavioral techniques), I invite people to develop more self-awareness, to renegotiate key issues of their existence and to approach past traumatic experiences in a more constructive manner.

Additionally, I support individuals to explore dysfunctional ways of thinking and dysfunctional repetitive patterns of behavior which make their life difficult in an effort to understand them better and then to discover or develop the ways or tools they need to be able to transform their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors.

My ultimate goal is to always respect people's right to diversity and uniqueness and to support them to reach the best of their capabilities so that they can be enabled to live their lives with satisfaction.
