WHAT IS E-THERAPY.UK?


E-therapy is an online platform that specialises in the delivery of online therapy via secure live high definition video. We provide a convenient, cost-effective and evidenced-based alternative to the conventional method of accessing therapy. This enables our users to consult with a licensed, qualified and experienced therapist from the comfort of their home, office or personal space at a time that is convenient for them.

WHO ARE THE THERAPISTS?


All our therapists are qualified and licensed professionals with vast experience in the fields of behavioural health and nutrition. They are all members of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and British Association for Applied Nutrition and Nutritional therapy (BANT). They adhere to strict ethical and professional guidelines. Their backgrounds and qualifications have been checked and verified byE-therapy and they have all been carefully selected based on level of experience, qualifications and expertise in dealing with a vast range of emotional and nutritional difficulties.

HOW DO I CHOOSE A THERAPIST?


We have over eighty therapists to choose from. The search function is designed to streamline this process. Using the fields provided you can narrow your search to provide you with the most appropriate therapist. Search therapists by therapy type, condition, gender, approach to treatment, therapist name and language. Alternatively, you can contact us by e-mail or telephone and we will match you to an appropriate therapist based on your needs.

IS ONLINE THERAPY APPROPRIATE FOR ME?


Online therapy is as effective as face to face therapy for a range of psychological and nutrition related conditions. It also provides a convenient, hassle-free and cost-effective alternative to conventional in-person visits. All that is required is an internet connection and access to a personal computer, tablet, laptop or any other device that can connect to the internet. Online therapy has been shown to be effective in dealing with a wide range of conditions including work related issues, stress, anxiety, relationships, parenting, depression, addictions, eating, sleeping, trauma, anger, family conflicts, LGBT matters, grief, religion, self-esteem and much more.

Online therapy is not appropriate if:
  • You have thoughts of hurting yourself or others
  • You are a minor or under 18 years of age
  • You are in an urgent crisis or an emergency
  • You are currently experiencing an acute episode in the context of a severe and enduring mental health diagnosis
  • You were required to undergo therapy or counselling either by a court order or by any other authority
  • You do not have a device that can connect to the Internet or you do not have a reliable Internet connection

IS ONLINE THERAPY A SUBSTITUTE FOR IN-PERSON VISITS?


Online therapy has been shown to as effective as conventional face to face visits. This is based on research conducted to prove the effectiveness of this mode of delivering therapy. E-therapy provides a convenient, hassle free and cost-effective alternative to conventional visits. Online therapy provides users with more flexibility and choice, hence enabling those who would benefit from therapy to have access to a therapist in a timely manner.

HOW DOES IT WORK?


E-therapy enables users connect with a therapist using real time, high definition video over an internet connection. Users would be required to register by providing basic information. Once registered you will be able to choose from a wide range of therapy providers by using the search function to find the appropriate therapist. Once a therapist has been selected you can view more information and proceed to book the selected therapist if you are satisfied. You will then be directed to the therapist’s calendar where you can select a date and time that suits you based on therapist availability. Once a date and time has been selected you will be prompted to make a payment using a debit or credit card. You will receive an e-mail confirmation of the appointment shortly afterwards. E-mail reminders will be sent prior to the commencement of therapy. On the date and time of your appointment, log into your e-therapy account and proceed to UPCOMING APPOINTMENTS on your dashboard. You will see a red JOIN button beside the date and time of your appointment. This JOIN button will only be present fifteen minutes before your scheduled session. Click this button to enter the virtual therapy room where your therapist will connect with you and commence the therapy session.

HOW DO I BOOK A SESSION?


Once a therapist has been selected you can view more information about their expertise, experience and approach to therapy. You may then proceed to book the selected therapist if you are satisfied. You will then be directed to the therapist’s calendar where you can select a date and time that suits you based on therapist availability. Once a date and time have been selected you will be prompted to make a payment using a debit or credit card. You will receive an e-mail confirmation of the appointment when the therapist confirms. E-mail reminders will be sent prior to the commencement of therapy.

CAN I MESSAGE THERAPISTS?


Clients have the option to send messages to therapists to seek further clarification about their practice before committing to an appointment. Response times may vary, but therapists aim to respond as soon as possible. There is also the option to book a 25-minute psychological therapy session with a therapist if a client requires further reassurance that a therapeutic relationship can be established with a therapist.

HOW MANY THERAPY SESSIONS DO I NEED?


The number of therapy sessions required would depend on individual client needs. Each client should work collaboratively with their chosen therapist to decide on the number of sessions that would be appropriate and effective. Therapists may suggest a short-term approach of 5-6 sessions for psychotherapy, while other clients may require longer term psychotherapy sessions. Clients can also choose to utilise the service for one-off supportive intervention in a non-structured manner. All clients seeking nutritional therapy will be required to complete an initial nutritional therapy consultation before they can book a follow up nutritional therapy session. Your nutritional therapist will suggest the number of follow up sessions required based on your needs. Please be aware that online therapy is not suitable for crisis or emergency situations.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?


A fifty-minute psychotherapy session is priced at £65.00 and a twenty-five-minute psychotherapy session is £35.00. Most psychotherapy sessions are fifty minutes in length. However, we have provided the twenty-five-minute option for clients who wish to access therapy for brief, unstructured support. The twenty-five-minute option also gives users the opportunity to explore the therapeutic relationship with their chosen therapist before committing to future appointments. An initial nutritional therapy session is priced at £100.00 and a follow up session is £65.00. Clients must complete an initial nutritional therapy session before a follow up session can be booked with a nutritional therapist. Users can message therapists for free to seek further clarification prior to committing to future appointments. E-therapy offers a discounted price of £60.00 for a fifty-minute psychotherapy session and £32.00 for a twenty-five-minute psychotherapy session if five sessions are purchased in advance.

WILL INSURANCE COVER ONLINE THERAPY?


Some insurance providers cover online therapy. Please check with your provider to verify that they will cover the cost of your therapy sessions on e-therapy.uk. If you consider using your health insurance, please check your coverage carefully by asking the following questions:
  • Do I have mental health or complementary medicine insurance benefits?
  • What is my deductible and has it been met?
  • How many sessions per year does my health insurance cover?
  • What is the coverage amount per therapy session?
  • Is approval required from my primary care physician or general practitioner?

HOW EFFECTIVE IS ONLINE THERAPY?


Online therapy has been shown to be as effective as face to face therapy. HOW SECURE AND PRIVATE IS THE E-THERAPY PLATFORM?


The e-therapy telehealth platform has been designed and engineered to ensure that video sessions and client health and personal information are secure, private and confidential. Video sessions are not recorded and cannot be viewed by third parties. Our privacy and confidentiality standards are more advanced than what is required by law or regulation.
  • Everything you tell your therapist is confidential and cannot be disclosed
  • E-therapy will not disclose your information to insurance companies or employers without your permission
  • Users have the option to delete messages that have been sent or received
  • All the messages between you and your therapist are secured and encrypted by military-grade 256-bit encryption.
  • Our servers are hosted in an "A Grade" facility, ensuring the best-in-class security and protection.
  • Our browsing encryption system (SSL) is provided by GeoTrust a world leader in online security and encryption.
  • Our databases are encrypted and scrambled so they essentially become useless in the very unlikely event of theft or external interference.

IS MY PAYMENT SECURE?


All payments made on the e-therapy website are processed through a secure payments system. We do not store debit or credit card details. When making a payment your card details are encrypted using Secure Sockets Layer technology (SSL) upon transmission to our secure payment service provider.

DO I GET A REFUND IF I MISS OR CANCEL A SESSION?


Clients receive a full refund if a scheduled session is cancelled prior to 48 hours before the commencement of therapy. If clients cancel within 48 hours, no refund is available. If your therapist cancels a scheduled appointment, clients receive a full refund or the option to reschedule with the same therapist or another therapist of their choice.

IS THERE A SUBSCRIPTION OR MEMBERSHIP FEE?


There are no subscription or membership fees. Registration is free, and you will never be required to pay a fee to maintain an account on e-therapy.uk. We operate a pay per visit system and you will only be required to make a payment prior to a therapy session. E-therapy.uk offers discounted rates for five psychological therapy sessions booked in advance.

DOES E-THERAPY PROVIDE COUNSELLING OR THERAPY SERVICES?


Please be advised that e-therapy.uk does not provide counselling or therapeutic services. E-therapy is an online platform that connects users to a licensed, qualified and experienced therapist using live audio-visual conferencing. All our therapists work independently and are not employees of e-therapy limited. All our therapists adhere to strict British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP) and British Association for Applied Nutrition and Nutritional therapy (BANT) professional guidelines, ethics and principles.

CAN I USE THE E-THERAPY PLATFORM IF I AM OUTSIDE THE UNITED KINGDOM?


The e-therapy platform can be used by citizens of all nations resident in the United Kingdom. British and European Union Citizens can use the e-therapy platform from outside the United Kingdom. Citizens from other countries living outside the United Kingdom will need to clarify with their chosen therapist if they are eligible for online therapy with a United Kingdom based therapist. Alternatively, you can contact us by sending an e-mail to support@e-therapy.uk for assistance regarding your eligibility for online therapy.

CAN A MINOR SIGN UP FOR E-THERAPY?


E-therapy is suitable for clients aged 18 and above. If you are below the age of 18, please consult with your General Practitioner who will assist in finding you a suitable service for your needs.

WHAT FORMS OF PAYMENT DOES E-THERAPY ACCEPT?


We accept both local and international Visa and Mastercard Debit/Credit cards. We are not able to accept bank transfers and cheque payments. E-therapy does not currently accept bitcoin or other forms of digital currency.

HOW WILL I HAVE MY THERAPY SESSIONS ON E-THERAPY?


Presently, all therapy sessions on e-therapy are conducted online using live video conferencing. Both psychological and nutritional therapy sessions are conducted using live video. You will be required to complete a nutritional therapy questionnaire and a food diary prior to your initial nutritional therapy session. Clients will be required to complete an initial nutritional therapy consultation before a follow up nutritional therapy session can be booked.

HOW DO LIVE VIDEO SESSIONS WORK?


Once an appointment has been confirmed by your chosen therapist, you will receive an e-mail confirmation. You will also receive reminder e-mails prior to your upcoming sessions. On the date and time of your confirmed appointment, log into your e-therapy account and proceed to UPCOMING APPOINTMENTS. A red JOIN button will be present fifteen minutes before your session is scheduled to take place. Click this red JOIN button and this will take you to the virtual therapy session. This is a live video conferencing session and you will be able to see and hear your therapist and vice versa.

CAN I STAY ANONYMOUS?


When you sign up to e-therapy, you are under no obligation to disclose your real name and other details. You can sign up using an alias or nickname. Your therapist will be able to see and hear you but may not necessarily know your real name and personal information. You may be required to disclose certain personal details to your therapist for health and safety reasons if this is deemed necessary. Otherwise you can choose to remain anonymous. Please be aware that e-therapy is not suitable for emergency or crisis situations. If this applies to you, please proceed to your nearest emergency department or contact your general practitioner immediately.

WHAT IF I AM UNHAPPY WITH MY THERAPIST OR A THERAPY SESSION?


To ensure the best possible video conferencing experience, please test your audio-visual system by clicking https://www.e-therapy.uk/audiovideo/test. We also advise that you test your internet connection speed by visiting https://www.speedtest.net/. Should you experience any difficulties, do not hesitate to contact us. After the completion of your therapy session, if you are unsatisfied with your consultation please send us an e-mail with details of your complaint. This will be explored and dealt with in a timely manner. You do not have to continue with the same therapist and you can change therapist at any time. If you experienced technical difficulties prior to or during your session which led to being unable to commence your session or early termination of your consultation, please contact us and we will investigate the matter. You will be fully refunded if the issue was because of an e-therapy system failure.

HOW DO I DELETE MY E-THERAPY ACCOUNT?

HOW DO I GET STARTED?


Please select the register option to get started. Register as a client and complete the required fields to set up your account. This will enable access to your dashboard. Use the search function to select a therapist of your choice. You will be prompted to make payment and you will receive an e-mail confirmation once your session has been confirmed.
